Speak In His Name

LaToya Pompy Season 1 Episode 3

"Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."  In this podcast, we’re going to talk about our words and how Christ wants to use our words for his glory. What are you creating today with your words? A creative power is behind the words that we speak. Every person, believer and nonbeliever alike, have the same ability to create using words. The difference with the believer is that we are told to add Christ to it! Whatever we do in word, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Whatever you do in Word or deeded, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, given thanks to God the Father through him. In this podcast, we're going to talk about our words and how Christ wants to use our words for his glory. Hey friends. I'm Latoya McBean Pompy, a wife, entrepreneur, nonprofit, founder, attorney, and a disciple of Jesus Christ. Join me for another episode of I Am Wonderful to explore biblical truths from God's word, to strengthen us in our Christian faith and help us uncover the wonders that God has poured into us. For others, guys, every word matters. Every word that we speak matters. Words carry ideas to others, and those ideas lead to action. Words causes others to act. They also create a feeling in others. And of course, in us as well, we can speak to ourself and say things that make us feel strong, uplifted, encouraged, powerful, or we can do the opposite.

We can speak negatively to ourself and feel depressed, afraid, intimidated, anxious, and powerless. Others get the same feeling from the words that we speak to them as professional women in business in our work, the words we speak can lead to more influence. Hearers begin to agree with us, right? And we persuade them to take a particular action towards an end that we've created for them. For example, your words encourage others to buy your product or engage your services. Hebrews 11 tells us that God used his words to frame or create the world. It says that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Think about that for a minute. What we see around us was wasn't created by anything that was visible to the naked eye. They were created by words alone.

This is a powerful illustration of how words work. Words create. What are you creating today with your words? The power is already behind the words that we speak. Every person believer and non-believer alike, we all have the same ability to create using words. The difference with the believer, of course, is that we are told to add Christ to it. Whatever we do in Word, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a woman in business, we know we know how to do things. If there's one thing we're good at, it's doing, we get things done. We're highly productive. Some of us have a long resume of accomplishments showing exactly how productive we've been or we're financially prosperous, which is another sign of how good we are at getting things done. We're also goal-oriented and driven by success. It makes us feel good to be the best of the best.

We don't take no for an answer. We find a way to get what we want, even when there seems like there is no way. One powerful tool that we often use to get what we want, of course, is our words. Our words persuade others to see things our way and give us what we want, our words or the communication gifts that we have help us achieve a level of success that some of us never thought imaginable for our life. But the thing about it is, are we glorifying God in the process of building wealth or in influencing others? When I say we friends, I mean Christian, women of faith, women who believe that Jesus is not only their Lord, but indeed Lord of all. Women who have a relationship with Christ, women who pray, women who are filled with the Holy Spirit, women who know their spiritual gifts, women who sing songs like you are worthy of it all for from you are all things, and to you are all things.

You deserve the glory. You're the one I'm speaking to today in this podcast. Are you doing your work and speaking in the name of the Lord Jesus. The first key that I want you guys to take away or women to take away from today's podcast is you've got to allow Christ to touch your creativity. For those of you who use your words or communication is the core of your work, is Christ in it? So for example, if you're an influencer or a speaker, you have authority in your field. You are known for your brand. You speak to your target audience and put ideas in their minds. That's an extremely powerful thing, guys, ideas from influencers on social media. For example, I recently saw a TikTok about how to bake chicken in a way that I've never thought of before. And you know what I did?

I saved the video, of course, and park the idea in the back of my mind that I'm going to try this recipe. So I took that idea to the supermarket, and then I took that idea in my for experimentation. I saw that video, I acted on it, and the chicken did not turn out the way that it looked in the video, of course, but I tried. But the point is certainly that those of you on social media through your business or even speakers, you have a tremendous, tremendous amount of influence because the ideas that you're putting out there through your videos or through your posts, they lead to action in others. So the question is, what ideas are you giving your audience? Do they even know that you're a believer in Jesus Christ? And I'm not speaking about, okay, occasionally you may say, God, this, God that no.

Are you specifically saying, Jesus Christ, are you open about your faith online? Do those who consume your product or your services, do they know that you are a believer of Jesus Christ? Bloggers, writers? What about you? What are you writing about? Well, you might be saying, well, I'm blogging about food. What does Christ have to do with food? Or, I'm writing a fictional story or stories. I'm a storyteller. Christ doesn't seem to fit in with what I'm doing, but he does fit in. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit and consuming the word of God regularly, your creativity is an area where Christ wants to influence. He wants to touch that very part of you and your work. Once you allow him to touch it, he will influence you, and your work will then glorify him. In the end, he will give you the ideas to speak about or write about.

However, he cannot touch your creativity. If you are guarding it and you've shut the door on him, you've closed him out from what you're doing in that area of creativity. Now, if you're working for yourself, you have a lot more leeway as a business owner or an entrepreneur. You have a lot of leeway to allow Christ to influence your work. But if you're working for others, you have to ask God for wisdom on how to approach your colleagues about the ideas that you're having, these ideas that God has given you. Now in your business, in your work, if you're working for others, ask for wisdom about how to put forward these ideas on the table. Now, in the end, guys, the key is to open that door to him and ask him what is it that he wants you to speak about? What is it that he wants you to write about?

What is it that does he want you to address today in a live session on Instagram or Facebook or YouTube or TikTok? What does he have to say about it and to others? Ask him those questions. And when you ask him those questions, you're inviting him in to touch your creativity, to touch that area. It should not be a protected area where you're keeping Christ out protected from others, of course, who may not see the vision that God has given you. Protect your creativity and that space guarded from others, but open it up to Christ to touch that area of creativity so that he could be in your words and in your work. And then the second key that I'd like to leave you with is you've got to make Christ the center of your speech business. Women owners, whether you're an owner or you're in corporate America, do others around you know that you're a believer of Jesus Christ.

When you speak to your team or your colleagues, what type of speech are you using? Are you cursing at them or are you involved in gossip or slander? Right? You've got to be extremely sensitive about this because others are watching you, particularly once you put it out there, that you are a believer of Jesus Christ, yet you have power in your business. You have power in the position that you're holding in corporate America. And once they know that you're a believer of Jesus Christ, believe me, they will be watching even closer. So you've got to guard the words that you speak and ensure that Christ is in the words and the ideas that you come up with for your team. Because the nonbelievers are looking for a gotcha moment, a moment where they say, gotcha. I knew you were fake. Gotcha. I knew you weren't really born again.

Gotcha. I knew you were just like me, right? Because you're doing the same thing that I'm doing. But guys, ladies, I should say, you are creating disciples around you. You're creating disciples, and you want to make sure that you're creating the type of disciples that Christ wants in his kingdom. You're creating disciples who will be like Jesus Christ. So be very careful about that. But have you submitted your business or your work to Christ to allow him to show you how words could be transformative in your business or work like influencers? There is a lot of creativity that goes into running your own business. Open up and allow Christ to touch that area of creativity so that your business could flourish. He will give you the right words to use with your team to inspire them and uplift them. If you're a business owner, your Christ influenced speech will also cause you to build and thrive.

You will thrive because God takes, or the Lord takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servants. Psalm 35 27 says, let them shout for joy and be glad who favor my righteous cause. And let them say continually, let the Lord be magnified who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. And then verse eight also says, and my tongue shall speak of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long. Guys, it is undeniable that Christ wants to use our words for His glory. If we only open up to him and allow him to touch our creative space within us and in our mind, our words will become His words. And in that he is truly glorified When we know that we know that Jesus is Lord, he expects us to use our words in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever you do in Word, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
